Why is bobcat a name of a construction vehicle?

Bobcat is the name of the manufacturer, and the name "Bobcat" is often used as a common reference to a skid loader (regardless of who the manufacturer is), although Bobcat makes a range of products other than skid loaders, and not all skid loaders are made by Bobcat (New Holland, Case, JOHN DEERe, Caterpillar, JCB, Takeguchi, and other manufacturers make them, as well).
